Please accept this as my hearty recommendation for my friend, Lloyd Hovland's wonderfully detailed and realistic art. Over the years I have purchased several of his Canvases and Prints which adorn many of our law office's walls. I also have his art at my personal residence. On many occasions, I have received compliments from clients, staff, and other friends related to his masterpieces. His attention to the finest detail is wondrous. His patience for his art is inspiring. His ability to capture reality, and put you in the picture, is amazing. Finally, but certainly not least, is that he is such a good human being and gentleman. I am blessed to call him my friend.

We have 16 of Lloyd Hovland's Paintings hanging on our walls. Some are Artist Prints, some Limited Editions, and some are Canvas. We also have 2 more scenes on order, the COUGAR & the CARIBOU. We enjoy walking through the house and seeing them, and when we have someone walk in they always are impressed with them.

My first meeting with Lloyd Hovland was during a scrimmage on a basketball court as students at Woodbury College, now Woodbury University, in Los Angeles, California. Lloyd was enrolled in the art program and I was taking business courses. We shared no classes and may never have met had it not been for our interest in basketball..
After graduating from Woodbury, Lloyd continued taking courses to perfect a skill that can only be considered a God given talent. Although our careers took widely separate paths we have managed to keep in touch over the years. It has been interesting to watch as his portfolio of wildlife and western scenes has grown to the present collection. I believe he has achieved major status in his chosen genre.
We own several of his scenes and among them is a mother bear whose growl can almost be heard as she prepares to protect her two cubs. This truly portrays his motto of, "The Artist of Realism."

My husband and I have lived with and enjoyed Lloyd Hovland's art for many years. He is very skilled at observing and drawing scenes in harmonious colors in realistic settings. I especially enjoy noting how he creates the balance and harmony of the animal kingdom in natural settings that reflects his love of nature.
After my husband passed away I moved from my larger home to a condominium and my children have clamored for Mr. Hovland's paintings, and I know his works will live on in my family for generations to come. I thank him so very much for sharing his great God-given talent.

Dear Mr. Hovland,
This is a short note on how much I have appreciated purchasing your prints over these several years. Having been born and raised in Montana, many of your beautiful scenes, reflect memories of my youth. (I even spent 3 years in your Minnesota during WWII)
Such was the first print I purchased several years ago, Series 47 "Ready to Fire". The background of the Grand Tetons and the determined Mountain Man sloshing through the deep snow brought back the musings of a young hunter of my bygone youth.
Such also was Series 42 "Dancing for Guidance", with the typical Medicine Man of a Native American Midwest tribe. It was during this time I had taken up Genealogy to solve the mystery of my unknown great grandfather and his line. The mystery man turned out to be part Cherokee, born in Term. In 1850 and died in OK in 1924 as a Cherokee citizen. He and his brother were involved in a gunfight with several "hot headed rebels" in 1868 near the family home in AR. He killed two of them before he and his brother could get away. The two brothers then left to Indian Territory (now OK) to let things cool down. I can imagine they were "looking for guidance" too. The brother became a Baptist Minister and started several churches. My Great grandfather became a business entrepreneur, owning a stone mason business, a Movie Theater and the first electrical power plant in Fairland OK. (His real failing was having 4 wives and 15 kids and apparently didn't bother divorcing two of them.)
I suppose I can find a personal story for every one of the prints I have purchased. As you might remember I have 5 of them hanging up my staircase and then 6 others scattered around the house. My wife, Kay, has been very tolerant of my one-artist decorating style.
Keep up the excellent work, and I hope you and yours stay healthy and prosper.
Yours Truly,
Roger Long Sr., Anaheim CA.

I first met Lloyd and B at the California State Fair in Sacramento, CA in 1990 and I have enjoyed Lloyd's art work for many years. I have approximately 40 of Lloyd's paintings (Artist Prints, Canvases, and 6 Original Painting). His paintings present realistic and highly detailed depictions of many aspects of wildlife and western frontier life; including Native American Warriors and Families.
My family and friends are always commenting on how beautiful the scenes are and that they seem to jump right off the wall. Lloyd thank you for your wonderful art work and being a great friend over the years. I look forward to being able to enjoy all your current art and all your future work to come.
You're Friend,
